Brief: As Art Director for Edutopia at the George Lucas Educational Foundation, I led its first brand refresh—redefining the visual identity across web, print, and video. Our goal was to elevate the platform's credibility and reach while building a consistent, human-centered brand narrative. This included a full website redesign and a content strategy that translated seamlessly across formats.
Audience: Educators, administrators, policy makers, parents, and lifelong learners seeking evidence-based, inspirational teaching models and real-world success stories.
Approach: We built a flexible design system that connected the brand across editorial, video, and digital products. My direction included creative leadership for cross-functional teams on the road, producing content in schools nationwide. The videos and storytelling were structured to integrate tightly with Edutopia’s digital platform, enhancing the user experience and growing community engagement.
Outcome: The refreshed brand and redesigned site won a Webby Award and significantly boosted visibility and impact. Stories were shared widely across education communities, and engagement metrics surged. The design system became the foundation for future growth—cementing Edutopia’s position as a trusted, forward-thinking voice in education innovation.

At the George Lucas Educational Foundation in Nicasio, CA, I directed a multidisciplinary team across editorial, digital, and video. I collaborated with top-tier illustrators from WIRED and The New Yorker, guided agency partners, and managed in-house and freelance videographers. Leading this hybrid team, I ensured visual storytelling aligned with our editorial mission, creating a cohesive brand experience that spanned print, web, and award-winning educational films.
